Suicide Out of the Cave - Part 4 April 28, 2024
Two goals for the message today:
- Read what the Bible actually says
- Show you that there is hope!
People in the Bible who wrestled with suicidal thoughts: Moses, Jonah, Job, Elijah
âYou must not murder.â Exodus 20:13 (NLT)
It is never Godâs will that anyone would take their own life.
Is suicide forgivable?
The Bible never says that suicide is unforgivable.
Our salvation doesnât hang on the last thing we did, but on what Jesus did when He hung on the cross.
The Gospel
â8God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you canât take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done ... â Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT)
We are saved by turning from our sin and believing in Jesus. This is a gift from God, not something we earn.
â28I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29for my Father has given them to me, and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Fatherâs hand.â John 10:28-29 (NLT)
â38And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from Godâs love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrowânot even the powers of hell can separate us from Godâs love. 39No power in the sky above or in the earth belowâindeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.â Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
You didnât do anything to earn your salvation and you canât do anything to lose your salvation!
When we believe in Jesus all of our sins are forgiven; not just past, but present and future sins as well!
âJesus told them, âThis is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one He has sent.ââ John 6:29 (NLT)
What Jesus did in His greatest moment is more powerful than what weâve done in our darkest moment.
All of our sins, not just some, have been paid for by Jesus.
