Insecurity- Soundtracks Vol II - Part 2 August 18, 2024
The cost of insecurity is steep: Worry/anxiety, paralyzing perfectionism, overly dependent, poor boundaries, broken relationships, self-sabotage, excessive guilt, inability to accept success, doubt God’s promises, false identity, miss out on God-things, isolation from community, spiritual stagnation

How did Peter go from being scared of a middle school girl to Godfidently healing people and preaching the Gospel in the face of the worst adversity possible? The resurrection.
When you see who Jesus really is, it transforms how you see who YOU are!
How to Live Godfidently:
- Believe in Jesus and receive your new identity in Him
“12But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. 13They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.” John 1:12-13 (NLT)
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
- Relentlessly turn down the broken soundtracks (Recognize and Retire)
- Deliberately turn up God’s soundtracks (Replace and Repeat)
- Learn your God-given gifts and use them often
“10God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. 11Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NLT)
- Get on mission with God!
Insecurity comes when who you are is dependent on things that change and move.
Security comes when who you are is firmly rooted in Someone who never changes.
“Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:39 (NLT)
Who or what is your security in?
“7But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)
Great Scriptures for Overcoming Insecurity and Living Godfidently:
“See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know Him.” 1 John 3:1 (NLT)
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)
“So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:1 (NLT)
“What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?” Romans 8:31 (NLT)
“38And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
“13You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. 17How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! 18I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” Psalm 139:13-18 (NLT)
“3But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. 4I praise God for what He has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me?” Psalm 56:3-4 (NLT)
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
“7So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. 8Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9Each time He said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NLT)
“The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.” Psalm 121:5 (NLT)
