Discussion Questions:

  1. Name an example of a disagreement you’ve had with another believer. How did you handle the conversation?

  2. Read Romans 14:10-19 aloud. What stands out to you most from this passage? How can we ensure that our personal convictions don’t become a stumbling block for others?

  3. How can we distinguish between essential and non-essential beliefs in our faith? Why do you think people sometimes make secondary issues into primary issues?

  4. Read Galatians 5:13-14. What does it mean to ā€œfilter your disagreements through loveā€? Can you think of a time when doing this helped maintain a relationship? What are some ways we can protect relationships when we don’t see eye to eye with other believers?

  5. Pastor Sean said we should prioritize the person over our preference when we disagree. Historically, would you say it’s more important to you to win an argument or preserve harmony in a relationship? (Be honest!)

  6. The past three weeks, we have looked at handling conflict, gossip, and disagreements through a biblical lens. How can our ability to handle these things well impact our witness to the world as followers of Christ?
