The Maturity Question
Better Decisions, Fewer Regrets – Part 5
October 6, 2024
Discussion Questions:
- Pastor Sean shared many examples of “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” Share which one(s) stuck out most to you and why. Share any other examples that came to mind from your own life as well.
- When making a decision, why are we more prone to evaluating what everyone else is doing, if it’s legal, and how close we are to “the line” instead of asking ourselves what the wise choice is?
- Read James 1:5-8. Which part stands out to you the most? Discuss the differences between a life that shows faith in God alone and one that has divided loyalty between God and the world.
- “Our excuses bring us to the edge of disaster and regret, but wisdom safeguards our future.” Would you commit for the next week to bring decisions to the Lord and ask His input? How does the thought of slowing down to the Lord’s prompting with important decisions make you feel?
More Scriptures to read and discuss if time allows:
- Proverbs 3:13-15: Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her.
- Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
